IMPROVEMENT IN PUNCTUALITY OF TRAINS IN SOUTH EASTERN RAILWAY SYSTEM

South Eastern Railway recorded remarkable improvement in punctuality of train running in its system during the festive month of October, 2014. The overall punctuality percentage of trains in South Eastern Railway system in October 2014 was 97.85% as against 95.5% achieved in October, 2013 i.e. an improvement of 2.35% in comparison to corresponding month of last year.

The punctuality percentage of mail/express trains in October 2014 was 95.8% as against 90.75% in October, 2013 i.e. an improvement of 5.05%. The punctuality percentage of suburban trains in SER’s jurisdiction in October 2014 was 99.66% as against 98.33% recorded in the corresponding month of last year i.e. an improvement of 1.33%.

During the festive month of October 2014, S E Railway paid special attention to clear the extra rush of passengers by running Special Trains towards various destinations and also augmentation of existing mail/express trains by attaching extra coaches. Altogether 410 Special Trains were arranged towards different directions and 561 number of additional coaches were attached to regular trains in the month of October, 2014.
