Ace Badminton Star P.V. Sindhu Joins Swatchh Bharat Campaign at Lingampalli Railway Station



Arjuna  Awardee and International Badminton Star, Ms. P.V. Sindhu joined a Cleanliness Campaign undertaken by Secunderabad Division of  SCR at Lingampalli Railway Station today (1st Nov.2014) as a part of “Swachh Bharat Mission” initiated by the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India. Senior Railway officials Viz., Shri K. Siva Prasad, Chief Passenger Transportation Manager, SCR, and Shri M. Uma Shankar Kumar, Senior Divisional Signal & Tele communication Engineer (Coordination), Secunderabad Division and Railway staff working at Lingampalli railway station have participated in the campaign. Shri K. Vidhya Sagar, Mandal Revenue Officer, Serilingam Palli also took part in the campaign.  Faculty and Students  from Schools situated at Lingampalli, Nallakandla and Ramachandra Puram areas Viz.,  Sharadha Vidhya Niketan, Pavithra International School, Rao’s  My Techno School, Srisainath High School, Bharatia Vidhya Bhavan School, Jilla Parishad Schools, Emmaus School, Sahiti Vidhya Niketan School, Arnold School, and rail Passengers participated in large number.

Bronze Medal winner for two consecutive years at World Badminton Championship-2014 (Denmark) and World Badminton Championship-2013 (Guangzhou) and 10thrank holder in the World,  Ms. Sindhu, daughter of Mr. M.V. Ramana, Assistant Sports Officer, SCR who is also an Arjuna Awardee  administered the Swatchh Bharat Abhiyan Pledge to the partakers.

Ms. Sindhu participated in the shramdhaan by sweeping the railway premises and planting trees. While addressing the gathering, she stated that in keeping with the clarion  call given by our Hon’ble Prime Minister of India,  every o­ne of us have the responsibility to maintain cleanliness at our home, colonies and public places such as Railway Stations etc. We have to stop littering and spitting  any other place  than garbage bins and spittoons to keep our surrounding clean,  she said. She appealed to the public to help  railways to maintain cleanliness at railway premises and train compartments to ensure a happy and pleasant rail travel.

Ms. Sindhu and the Railway officers present o­n the occasion exhorted the School students, railway employees, rail passengers, and public gathered there to actively participate in Swatch Bharat Abhiyan in future also by maintaining cleanliness and spreading the message to others to achieve the goal of clean Bharat. During the shramdhaan, the participants cleaned the circulating areas of the Lingampalli stations including its approach roads and vehicle parking areas.
