Shri P.K. Srivastava, GM/SCR at Nagole Metro station
|
Shri P.K. Srivastava, General
Manager, South Central Railway inaugurated the launch of girder segments for
construction of Metro Rail bridge across the railway track in connection with
Hyderabad Metro Rail works on Miyapur- L.B.Nagar corridor at Bharatnagar today
i.e. 11thFebruary, 2015.Shri NVS Reddy, MD, Hyderabad Metro Rail
Limited ( HMRL) and Shri V. N. Gadgil, MD, L&T HMRL were amongst those
present.
Addressing a press meet after the inauguration,
Shri P.K. Srivastava, GM/SCR stated that:
ØThe Hyderabad Metro
Rail is sure to become the life-line of Hyderabad like the Suburban Rail
network in Mumbai.
ØHyderabad Metro Rail
is a very vital and crucial project, with a well planned layout that
affords connectivity to all important places including railway stations, bus
terminals, commercial hubs etc in the city.
ØThe incremental
launching of girder segments is meticulously planned and all safety steps are
in place.
ØThe Hon’ble Chief
Minister of Telangana, Shri K. Chadrasekhar Rao played a important role in
speeding up the bridge works, which necessitate imposing of Rail blocks, by
speaking to Hon’ble Minister of Railways, Shri Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu, who
issued instructions for necessary clearance at the earliest.
ØFor the Railways,
imposing a Rail block entails stoppage of train movements for 3 hours per
block. With increase in freight traffic on SCR, which has led to a
commensurate increase in goods train movements by about 20%, it is a big
challenge to meticulously plan rail blocks, taking due care to avoid passenger
inconvenience. The onus is all the more on SCR, because the Zone holds the
image of being passenger friendly.
Ø For the rail
block at Bharat Nagar, twice a week till April, several steps were taken to
ensure that passengers of Secunderbad-Pune-Secunderabad Shatabdi Express which
is being short terminated at Lingampalli on specific days are not put to any
hardship. Officials were deputed to Pune in advance, so as to ensure adequate
publicity, confirm the needs of the passengers and accordingly render help at
Lingampalli.
Ø The launch of
girder segment is a complex work needing utmost safety features and it is the
excellence of HMRL engineers which is visible, in the engineering methodology
being implemented at the casting stage.
ØAlthough the first
block on 7th February, 2015 was for 3 hrs, the next block was
finished in 2 hrs 30mts, thereby signifying that, in due course the execution
works will be speeded up by HMRL, thereby lessening the blockage time.
ØThe HMRL project work
pertaining to launch of girder segments will set a benchmark for other metro
rail projects in the country.
