Bulletin No. 21 Government of AP Extends Assistance to SCR in Restoration of Damaged Track near Elamanchili, Senior SCR officials take part in Video-Conferencing Review of Cabinet Secretary



In view of track damage near Elamanchili in Visakhapatnam District due to heavy rains, Shri P.K.Srivastava, General Manager, South Central Railway spoke to Shri I.Y.R.Krishna Rao, Chief Secretary, Govt. of Andhra Pradesh this morning o­n the issue of restoration of train services to Visakhapatnam. SCR sought the help of AP State Government in moving the Earth Moving Equipments like proclainers / JCBs etc., to the track breach sites between Elamanchili and Bayyavaram in view of difficulties faced due to lack of proper approach roads there. AP Govt. immediately responded positively and the local officials assisted South Central Railway in this regard. The equipment and material were moved to the site and restoration activities are underway o­n war-footing.  

Shri K. Siva Prasad, Chief Passenger Transportation Manager (CPTM), South Central Railway attended the review meeting conducted by the Chief Secretary, AP Govt at Secretariat this afternoon o­n relief / restoration of train services to Visakhapatnam. Also, the CPTM participated in video-conference review of the Cabinet Secretary, New Delhi and briefed him o­n the steps taken by SCR in smoothly handling the situation arousing out of cyclone ‘Hudhud’ and massive restoration measures taken up by SCR. He informed that the rail route to Visakhapatnam is likely to be restored for normal traffic by tomorrow i.e.,14th October, 2014.
