As per the directions of
Shri P.K.Srivsatava, General Manager, SCR has opened its Railway Stations and
Institutes/Community halls to general Public, especially between Rajahmundry
and Visakhapatnam as a social responsibility measure. Affected local people
have been allowed access to Railway Institutes/Community halls at Rajahmundry
and Samalkot; and also the Railway Station buildings at major Stations like
Rajahmundry, Samalkot, Kakinada, Annavaram, Tuni and Anakapalli etc., to serve
as temporary shelter in case of need.
In addition, in a
first-of-its-kind measure, 4 trains with 55 empty coaches have been positioned
at 4 major stations to serve as emergency shelters as per local requirements.
These are- 1) empty train rake with 15 coaches at Samalkot, 2) empty train rake
with 16 coaches at Tuni, 3) empty train rake with 6 coaches at Kakinada, 4)
empty train rake with 18 coaches at Rajahmundry.
These
special measures are aimed to meet the needs of the Passengers and also the
locally displaced Railway employees and the general public in case of any emergency.
