SOUTH WESTERN RAILWAYS to Launch a Massive Special Cleanliness Drive on GANDHI JAYANTHI Divas



SOUTH WESTERN RAILWAY is launching a Special Cleanliness Campaign involving Shramdaan and Awareness activities by Officers, Employees, Social Organization Volunteers, Students/Teachers from School/Colleges on Gandhi Jayanthi Divas (2nd October, 2014), to keep the sphere of work are as neat and clean with special focus on stations and colonies. As part of this mega cleanliness campaign, the Railway track located between stations in city areas will be cleared of debris, garbage and plastic waste.

On this occasion, all officers and staff including the General Manager & Divisional Railway Manager will participate in a big way in Shramdaan related to cleanliness activity & in spreading awareness on cleanliness.

South Western Railway has prepared a comprehensive Cleanliness Action Plan for Bangalore, Mysore & Hubli Division covering all stations, trains, Track, and Colonies etc., duly involving thousands of Railwaymen /women in this campaign.

The services of NGOs, NSS, NCC, school/college students, Scouts and Guides etc. is also planned to be utilised for this special programme.

In this regard, senior officers in the Zonal and Divisional Headquarters have been nominated to a specific station/colony to organize and lead the massive special cleanliness awareness campaign & Shramdaan.
     
Apart from the efforts of South Western Railways, cooperation from Travelling Public is also required to maintain railway premises clean. Hence, Public awareness campaigns will be organised through print and electronic media advising the rail users to desist from littering or spoiling railway premises. Posters, Electronic display boards and banners etc., will be displayed at all conspicuous places to this effect.
             
This special drive also includes an awareness campaign about provision of punitive action against persons making premises dirty under relevant rules prohibiting littering in railway premises. Such persons are liable to be fined upto Rs 500/-. Messages will also be given through CCTVs and Public Address Systems at stations highlighting the penal provisions under the relevant rules.
