Shri P.K. Srivastava,
General Manager, South Central Railway, undertook an inspection of railway
stations on the Secunderabad-Nizamabad-Basar section of Hyderabad Division
today, ie., 21st July, 2014, in connection with the works concerning
MMTS Phase-II project which is due to commence shortly and the passenger
facilities to be improved in view of the Godavari Pushkarams slated for 2015.
Shri Rakesh Aaron, Divisional Railway Manager, Hyderabad Division and other
senior officials accompanied the General Manager during the inspection which
covered Medchal, Manoharabad, Brahmanapalli, Akkanapet, Kamareddy, Nizamabad
and Basar railway stations.
The General Manager
extensively inspected the passenger amenities and facilities at all these
stations. He undertook keen examination of the circulating areas, booking
offices, waiting rooms, drinking water facilities, Foot-over-Bridges etc., to
have a first-hand feel of the facilities in place. He also interacted with the
local populace and rail users at all these stations to understand their
grievances and requirements and assured them of required action wherever
needed.
At Medchal, Shri P.K.
Srivastava met Shri M. Sudheer Reddy, Hon’ble MLA and discussed the plans for
improvement of Railway facilities at the station. Responding to the complaints
from the local people who called on him at Brahmanapalli, the General Manager
assured prompt action to enhance the lighting facilities at the platforms and
circulating area. He also promised to examine the demands of the local people
at Akkanapet for another platform.
The General Manager made a
note of the requirements spelt by the local political leaders who met him at
Kamareddi station. They sought improvement to the circulating area, Foot-over-
Bridge connecting platform 1 & 2 to the circulating area and stoppage for
Okha-Rameshwaram Express at Kamareddi.
Shri Srivastava issued
directions to the Divisional officials to undertake remodeling of the main
façade of Nizamabad Railway station aesthetically. In view of the ensuing
Godavari Pushkarams, which is likely to witness a huge passenger rush at Basar
railway station, the General Manager analysed the passenger demands and
instructed that all additional arrangements shall be readied in time, including
improvements to circulating area, opening of more booking counters and
enhancing the scale of passenger facilities etc.
Speaking to the Media at
Nizamabad, the General Manager stated that a Multi Functional Complex is
planned to be constructed at Nizamabad and works on the same will commence
soon. He added that his inspection is also meant to take a overview of the
passenger facilities at this station in view of the final stretch of the
Nizamabad-Peddapalli new railway line being taken up for completion, so as to
plan for the anticipated increase in the train movements and passenger traffic.
