Shri P.K.Srivastava, General Manager/SCR has set the priorities and
direction in undertaking Railway developmental works on the Zone in the
current financial year in a review meeting conducted with all the Principal
Heads of the Departments at Rail Nilayam, Secunderabad, today i.e. on 15th
July, 2014.
The General Manager critically reviewed the progress of the ongoing
works across various categories like providing improved facilities to
passengers, track renewals, construction of Road over bridges/under bridges and
level crossings etc. during the period April - June, 2014.
The physical and financial progress
of the Railway developmental works have been examined in the light of the funds
allotted for SCR in the recent Railway Budget. The General Manager emphasized
that in view of the resource constraints, proper prioritisation is to be done
after a careful review of the sanctioned works. To enable optimal utilization
of the resources, works which have not taken off so far or no longer required
at present should be dropped, he said. Shri Srivastava emphasized that
works, which are in advanced stage of progress and which provide immediate
benefit to the passengers shall be undertaken on priority for their early
completion.
Top priority shall be accorded to
launch works related to provision of additional facilities to handle the huge
rush of passengers expected at the Railway Stations concerned in connection
with the Godavari Pushkarams to be celebrated next year, he
stressed.
In addition, passenger amenity
works for providing all the essential facilities at stations; works to take
care of the needs of the people with special abilities (physically
challenged); and lifts and escalators shall also get due importance
in the current fiscal, the General Manager directed the officials.
The funds allotted to SCR for
Railway developmental works in the recent Rail Budget include – Rs.93 crs for
passenger amenities; Rs.47 crs for traffic facilities; Rs.64 crs for level crossing
gates; Rs.147 crs for Road over bridges/Road under bridges; Rs.381 crs for
track renewals; Rs.17 crs. for bridges and Rs.47 crs for staff amenities. No
stone should be left unturned to ensure that the allocated funds are utilized
fully with focus on completing the important/last-mile works, stated the
General Manager.
