RAILWAY PROTECTION FORCE OF NORTHERN RAILWAY BUSTS RACKET OF UNAUTHORISED TICKETING AGENCY AND TOUTS AT VARIOUS LOCATIONS IN DELHI



As part of their drive to check the activity of unauthorized ticketing agencies and touts during the peak summer travel season, Northern Railway has intensified its vigilance checks in the national capital area. 

On 07.06.2014, the Railway Protection Force of Northern Railway apprehended an unauthorized ticketing agency, Sai Tour & Travel Agency, Ajmeri Gate, New Delhi. During the raid conducted, a total of 10 PRS tickets valued Rs.5510/- were recovered from Agency Owner. A case u/s 143 Indian Railways Act is registered against him at RPF Post, New Delhi.

The special task force also targeted the operation of touts outside rail ticket reservation centres and in station vicinity areas. The sleuths arrested o­ne such tout Ramsanjivav with 8 reserved tickets from IRCA building, New Delhi and another tout Sanjay with 3 reserved tickets from PRS, Sarojini Nagar. The touts were arrested u/s 143 Indian Railways Act and case registered at RPF post, DRM Gate and Delhi Safdarjung respectively.   

Northern Railway reiterates its appeal to general public to refrain from purchase of rail tickets from unauthorised agencies and touts. Unauthorized buying and selling of reserved tickets is an offence under Section 143 of the Railways Act. Passengers who buy tickets from unauthorized travel agents may lose both their tickets and the reserved accommodation, if such tickets are confiscated during raids.
