During the recent meeting of Shri Suresh Prabhakar
Prabhu, Hon’ble Minister of Railways, with Shri K.Chandrasekhar Rao, Hon’ble
Chief Minister of Telangana, the issue of levying of block charges by Railways
for permitting traffic block for Metro rail crossing works over SCR track was
discussed.
Taking into account the views of the State
Government of Telangana and Hyderabad Metro Rail Ltd (HMRL), this issue was
re-examined by Railway Board. The Railway Board has decided that the Railways
shall encourage development of Metro / Suburban projects by not levying block
charges towards detention of wagons, locomotives and coaches. Therefore,
Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited will be exempted from such charges
