SWR APPEALS TO DUDHSAGAR WATERFALLS TOURISTS REGARDING UNSAFE & PROHIBITED TO REACH DUDHSAGAR FALLS



The Dudhsagar Railway Station situated near Castle Rock Station comes under the Uttara Kannada District of Karnataka State under South Western Railway’s jurisdiction, is not opened for public and the Station is prohibited for common Public for alighting and boarding Trains.It is observed that a large number of people access the Dudhsagar waterfalls by travelling in Goods Train or by Trekking along the Railway Track or by alighting from Express Train with unscheduled stoppage.Recently, such unruly crowd resorted to stone pelting, climbing on the Train Engine thereby disrupting the Train services and endangering the safety of other passengers.

The Dudhsagar Station is not having any amenities to cater to Passengers.The Trains are stopping at Dudhsagar station only for Railway technical reasons and not for any passengers.It is highly unsafe for the Public to access Dudhsagar through Railway means.

Hence, SWR is hitherto warned thatTrekking along Railway Track or Trespassing on Railway area and endangering safety of passengers is an offence and violators will be prosecuted under Sections 147, 151, 152 & 153 of Indian Railways Act, 1989.Besides,unlawful entry into Goods Train/Engine/Express Trains(forcibly at non-designatedStations) is also an offence and violators will be prosecuted under Sections 147, 156 & 174 of the Indian Railways Act, 1989.

SWR is requesting the Public to co-operate with the Railways to reach you safely by maintaining the track and tunnels in the Ghat section in a good fettle.
