Marking the fulfillment of a budget promise,
Shri Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu, Hon’ble Minister of Railways launched a “Mobile
Application for Paperless Unreserved Tickets” meant for rail commuters on
Suburban (MMTS) section in the twin cities of Hyderabad & Secunderabad,
through Remote Video Link from New Delhi today i.e., 10th February,
2016. This launch is yet another step forward of Indian Railways in its
endeavor to serve suburban rail users better.
The
launch function was simultaneously held at Secunderabad Railway Station at
which Shri V.Hanumantha Rao,
Hon’ble Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) was the distinguished Guest of
Honour. Shri Ravindra Gupta, General Manager; Shri Anil Kumar Gupta, Additional
General Manager; Shri M.Papi Reddy, Chief Commercial Manager, Shri Ashesh
Agarwal, Divisional Railway Manager, Secunderabad Division; Smt Aruna Singh,
Divisional Railway Manager, Hyderabad Division, SCR; Shri Ravi Valluri, Chief
General Manager, Centre for Railway Information System (CRIS), Secunderabad
were amongst the Railway Officials present.
Addressing the gathering
before the launch, Sri Ravindra Gupta, General Manager, SCR highlighted the
focus accorded on the zone towards IT enabled initiatives, with a view to
provide better services to the passengers. The launch of the new App for
paperless ticketing is another step ahead in this direction, he averred.
Elaborating on the salient features of the App, The General Manager informed
that this will facilitate ease of booking for passengers, avoids cash
transactions, reflects green technology without the use of paper, offers
convenience of round the clock ticketing and takes away the worry of losing the
Rail ticket.
Going on to detail the use
of IT towards affording convenience to rail users in the twin cities, Sri
Ravindra Gupta stated that, the ticketing process has been streamlined to
a significant extent with the installation of 70 ATVMs(Automatic Ticket Vending
Machines) covering all MMTS stations, including 12 ATVMs which are both cash
and smart card based. GPS/ GPRS based LED display monitors installed in MMTS
trains and Stations provide actual running status of MMTS trains and enable
auto announcements. User friendly mobile Apps HYLITES to disseminate live
status of MMTS trains on run and RISSTA for strengthening security cover of
MMTS passengers have become immensely popular, the GM added.

Conference Hall, Railway Board, New Delhi after launching the mobile app,
stated that Indian Railways is taking several measures towards ensuring a
comfortable travel to rail users, Keeping the requirements of various sections
of rail commuters in view. The mobile app for unreserved ticketing in the
suburban MMTS sections of Falaknuma-Lingampalli, Hyderabad-Falaknuma and
Lingampalli-Hyderabad in Hyderabad city, follows the launch of the facility in
four other metros of New Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata & Chennai earlier, he
stated. The plans of Indian Railways lay stress to extend these sort of
innovative measures to cover more areas on its network.
Along with the launch of
“Mobile Application for Paperless Unreserved Tickets” meant for rail commuters
on Suburban (MMTS) section in the twin cities of Hyderabad & Secunderabad
today, the Hon’ble Minister of Railways also launched hand held terminals for
TTEs on Northern Railway and E-booking of bed rolls at New Delhi & Hazrat
Nizamuddin Stations.
Shri Manoj Sinha, Hon’ble Minister of State for Railways also spoke. Shri
A.K.Mital, Chairman Railway Board, was amongst the Officials present at New
Delhi.
Salient features of “Mobile App for Paperless Unreserved
Tickets”on Suburban (MMTS) section in Hyderabad City:-
Paperless Mobile Tickets is an initiative taken by Indian Railways to provide
seamless ticketing facility for Suburban Rail users through smart phones and to
achieve its objective of Paperless tickets.
Unreserved Paperless Mobile Ticketing supports Android & Windows Operating System which is made available in Google Play stores and Windows stores respectively
Once the application is downloaded and installed, passenger has to
register his/her mobile number through smart phone or by visiting http://www.utsonmobile.indianrail.gov.in
Passenger has to recharge R-wallet to start booking tickets.
R-wallet recharge can only done in multiples of Rs.100/- subject to a
maximum of Rs.5000/-.
Booking of tickets is allowed only beyond 15 mts
from the Station/ Railway track. The booking of journey tickets is
allowed within the radius of 5 km of the journey commencing station and
for the Platform tickets upto a distance of 2 km from the journey
station. However, for booking/renewal of season Tickets there is no such
restriction.
Suburban (MMTS) Journey tickets, Season Tickets and Platform Tickets can
be booked using this application. Renewal of Season Tickets can be done
10 days in advance.
Passenger has to just follow below steps to book a
paperless mobile ticket.
ØLogin into the application.
ØAfter successful login, “Book Ticket” option has to
be selected.
ØIn the next screen, “Normal Booking” option
has to be selected.
ØDetails concerning ‘from station’ and ‘to station’
for which the ticket has to be booked should be entered and “done” option
clicked.
ØIn this screen, the number of adult/child
passengers, class and train type has to be selected. The ticket type and
payment type will be selected by default as “JOURNEY (J)” and “R WALLET”.
ØThe next screen will show the details entered, ticket fare and Wallet
balance (current balance). If the details entered are correct, “Book Ticket”
option has to be selected.
ØThis will lead to the next screen where the booked ticket details will
be shown.
ÜOnce registered the Paperless Unreserved Mobile Ticketing App can be
utilised for booking Unreserved tickets at Secunderabad/Hyderabad, Chennai,
Delhi, Mumbai & Kolkata.
ÜTo check the legitimacy of the Paperless Tickets booked by the
passengers, TTE’s are provided with a Mobile TTE App.
