RUNNING OF SPECIAL TRAINS ON KONKAN RAILWAY ROUTE

Good news for passengers !! Konkan Railway in co-ordination with Southern Railway will run a Bharat Darshan Special Train from Madurai to Madgaon and back, organised by the South Zone of IRCTC. Two AC 3-tier coaches and four Sleeper Class coaches of the special train will be available for booking through Passenger Reservation System (PRS) centres. The different legs of the special train are as detailed below.

1.Special fare special train from Madurai to Chennai Egmore
Train No.06901 Madurai – Chennai Egmore special fare special train will leave Madurai at 00.05 hrs. on 07.01.2017 and reach Chennai Egmore at 10.30 hrs. the same day.

Stoppages:Dindigul, Tiruchchirappalli and Villupuram Jn.

2.Special fare special train from Chennai Egmore to Ernakulam Jn.
Train No.06902 Chennai Egmore – Ernakulam Jn. special fare special train will leave Chennai Egmore at 10.50 hrs. on 07.01.2017 and reach Ernakulam Jn. at 02.20 hrs. the next day.

Stoppages: Katpadi, Jolarpettai, Salem Jn, Erode Jn, Podanur Jn, Palakkad Jn, Wadakancheri and Thrissur.

3.Special fare special train from Ernakulam Jn. to Madgaon
Train No.06903 Ernakulam Jn. - Madgaon special fare special train will leave Ernakulam Jn. at 19.15 hrs. on 08.01.2017 and reach Madgaon at 10.30 hrs. the next day.

Stoppages: Thrissur, Shoranur Jn., Kozhikode, Kannur, Mangalore Jn. and Udupi.

4.Special fare special train from Madgaon to Chennai Egmore
Train No.06904 Madgaon – Chennai Egmore special fare special train will leave Madgaon at 13.00 hrs. on 11.01.2017 and reach Chennai Egmore at 14.20 hrs. the next day.

Stoppages: Udupi, Mangalore Jn., Kannur, Kozhikode, Shoranur, Palakkad Jn, Podanur Jn, Erode Jn, Salem Jn, Jolarpettai and Katpadi Jn.

5.Suvidha special train from Chennai Egmore to Madurai
Train No.82649 Chennai Egmore – Madurai Suvidha special train will leave Chennai Egmore at 14.25 hrs. on 12.01.2017 and reach Madurai at 23.55 hrs. the same day.

Stoppages:Villupuram Jn, Tiruchchirappalli and Dindigul Jn.

Konkan Railway’s Mobile App Launched

In its endeavour to provide value-added services to its customers, Konkan Railway has launched a Mobile App on Google Play Store which will enable the passengers to access various train-related features on their mobile phone. The App can be downloaded and installed on Android and Blackberry Smart phones. Since a large populace uses Smart Phones these days, the App is a step forward in improving services for our passengers.

Presumably the first Mobile App for train services by any zonal railway, this Mobile App has been developed in-house by Konkan Railway Information Technology cell. It will allow the passengers to not only check the time-table of trains running via Konkan Railway route, but also give current status of trains on the route. So, no more need to dial any train enquiry number while travelling on Konkan Railway.

The App will also enable access to Konkan Railway’s website and let you enjoy the photo gallery of Konkan Railway’s journey from inception to various cultural, sports and social activities carried out by KRCL.

EXTRA COACHES FOR RAJYARANI EXPRESS

Good news for passengers !! It has been decided to augment one  additional Second Class Sleeper coach and 2 additional General Class Coaches to train no. 11003 / 11004 Dadar – Sawantwadi Rd – Dadar Rajyarani Express on Konkan Railway route on a permanent basis w.e.f 9/11/2014.

Passengers may note the same.

Mumbai - Goa Complimentary Train Trip to Cancer struck children – Courtesy Konkan Railway

The disease is such that it takes immense mental strength to face the reality of having been afflicted with it and, more than that, it requires unwavering faith to live through it every day to get healed and stay cheerful. But these little children, who are affected with Cancer, have chosen to see only the bright side of life. Konkan Railway only added a further cheer to their positive outlook by arranging a complimentary train trip for these cancer struck children on 5th Nov, 2014 from Mumbai to Goa and back on 8th November.

These children, who are undergoing treatment for Cancer of various stages at Tata Memorial Centre, started their Goa trip from CSTM station yesterday by train no.12133 CSTM – Mangalore Express. There are 38 children accompanied by attendants and paramedic staff from Tata Hospital.

The children, who are in the age group of 3 to 16 years, were upbeat about the train journey over the picturesque Konkan Railway route. With joy in their hearts and cheerful faces, they waived to all as they boarded the train.

Konkan Railway has been giving this complimentary train journey in 3-tier AC coach to such children from Tata Memorial Centre every year since 2007. On the occasion, Konkan Railway distributes gift hampers to the children and  also extends complimentary on-board hospitality to them and their escorts during the to & fro journey. With this small gesture, Konkan Railway prays for an early and speedy recovery of these Little Angels.
