SCR Launches a Smartphone App, ‘TADAAST’, for Live Information on Train Arrivals / Departures and Amenities at 25 Railway Stations; iOS Version of ‘HYLITES’ App also Released

Leveraging the Information Technology, South Central Railway brought forth a new smartphone app, ‘TADAAST’ (Train Arrival Departure And Amenities at STations), to provide live information o­n train services for the benefit of rail users.

Shri P. K. Srivastava, General Manager, South Central Railway launched ‘TADAAST’ app at Rail Nilayam today i.e., 2nd December, 2014. Shri Sunil Kumar Agarwal, Additional General Manager/SCR, Shri Mahboob Ali, Chief Signal & Telecom Engineer and Shri S.K. Mishra, Divisional Railway Manager, Secunderabad were present o­n the occasion.

Shri Srivastava said that this innovative app is aimed at disseminating information o­n the current status of arrivals and departures of trains o­n a live basis and also details of various passenger facilities provided at 25 identified major stations o­n SCR. Other useful features such as scheduled timetable and location of the station with route via Google maps have also been incorporated exclusively for each of the 25 stations in this app. In addition, detailed station layouts with icons showing the specific location of passenger amenities are also included in this app for Secunderabad, Hyderabad and Kacheguda stations.

‘TADAAST’is an app tailored primarily to take care of the public enquiry needs related to train services and amenities. It is developed in a customized manner for 25 major stations o­n SCR viz., Secunderabad, Hyderabad, Kacheguda, Vijayawada, Tirupati, Guntur, Nellore, Rajahmundry, o­ngole, Anakapalli, Bhongir, Bhimavaram Town, Guntakal, Chittapur, Kadapa, Khammam Town, Mancheriyal, Nanded, Ramagundam, Tenali, Tadepalligudem, Vikarabad, Tandur, Sirpur Kagaznagar and Sedam. This app has been designed with an attractive layout in an easy-to-navigate and simple-to-use format. The user can set the frequently used stations as favourite for quick access. The data in this app can be seen in either of the three languages – English, Hindi or Telugu. Users can convey their views and also any suggestions for improvement through the feedback option available in this app.

‘TADAAST’ app can be downloaded and installed for free from Google Play Store (on android-based smartphones) or Apple App Store (on iOS-based smartphones). 

On this occasion, Shri Srivastava also launched iOS-based version of ‘HYLITES’ (HYderabad LIve Train Enquiry System) app for the benefit of iPhone and iPad users. The android version of this app was released in February 2014. 

‘HYLITES’ provides the real-time information o­n the running of MMTS trains over 26 MMTS stations in twin cities. In addition, ‘HYLITES’ features useful modules such as MMTS timetable, MMTS route map, nearest MMTS stations and fares etc. This app has been well received by the rail commuters in the twin cities. ‘HYLITES’app is being actively used by around 50,300 users and carries a 4.3 star rating in Google Play Store at present. Users can now download and install this app for free from App Store o­n their iPhones/iPads also.

Shri P. K. Srivastava, General Manager, stated that these new IT initiatives would be helpful in effectively meeting the information needs of rail users and brings SCR much closer to its valued customers.
